Jesus said, ‘Whoever drinks from my mouth will become like I am. I myself will become him, and what is hidden will be revealed to him.’
Interpretation
Compare Saying 13, where the ‘drink’ is the wisdom which Jesus taught, and Saying 61, where abiding by this wisdom makes the person ‘like’ Jesus. With these in mind, Jesus’ statement that ‘I myself will become that person’ is almost certainly a metaphoric reiteration of the previous clause.
