Jesus said, ‘I will choose you, one out of a thousand, and two out of ten thousand. And they will stand as a single one.’
Interpretation
Saying 23 stresses the rarity of those who achieve the eschatological salvation. The first part may belong to an earlier version of the book. The second part, which defines this salvation as being ‘a single one’, like the non-binary first man, comes from the latest additions to the book.
