Jesus said, ‘When you gain within you that certain thing, what you have will save you. If you do not have it within you, what you do not have within you will kill you.’
Interpretation
The saying is unclear what ‘it’ is. It may be the wisdom which Jesus teaches, so that the person will be saved if they internalized the wisdom, or will be condemned according to the standard which that wisdom establishes. Or it may refer to hidden light or image within a person, mentioned in some other late additions to the book.
